The Aurora Borealis Illuminates the Sky in Arizona!
Last weekend, I was treated to a rare and breathtaking sight: the Aurora Borealis, also known as the northern lights, in Arizona. What a privilege it was to witness and watch this spectacular display for the first time since 2005 in this region!
I was in Sedona, standing at the top of the famous Airport Scenic Overlook—a well-maintained mesa that offers the best views of Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon. The northern lights are typically visible in regions close to the magnetic poles, and their visibility decreases as you move towards lower latitudes. So, it was an incredible treat to witness this phenomenon so far south.
The vivid, dancing lights painted the sky with shades of purple, pink, blue and violet, creating a magical and unforgettable experience. As if that wasn't enough, I also caught a glimpse of Elon's Starlink! I was lucky enough to photograph it, and it's right in the middle of one of my shots. Can you spot it?
It's moments like these that remind us of the beauty and wonder our world has to offer. If you ever get the chance to see the Aurora Borealis, no matter where you are, seize it—you won't be disappointed!
